Trading as a business

The idea of trading as a business may appeal to many people. There is no formal training or degree required. You are your own boss and make your own schedule while working from home and having an unlimited income potential. in fact, any one with a computer, internet connection and a small trading account could become a trader.

What most people fail to realize is the hard work and time that goes in to it. they do not factor in the emotional roller coaster humans ride when dealing with their own money, the disciplines needed day in and day out and the commitment required to succeed.

Here are some interesting facts about trading:

Approximately 90% of all day traders fail within the first year

There is no way to eliminate risk in trading you can only mitigate the risk

There is no magic system or software that can win 100% of the time

Even top traders will always come across a losing trade

It takes money to make money – if you plan on getting rich it will take you a long time with a smaller account

Successful independent traders can earn a very comfortable income, but most do not become “filthy rich”

Just because technology makes it easy for a person to open an account a click the buy button does not imply that trading is easy. Most traders fail withing there first year because they do not take the time to develop any type of logical business or trading plan. this principal applies to any type of business, if you do not plan your setting your self up for failure.

There are also many deceptions associated with the trading industry. Trading Gurus, infomercials, and hundreds or websites that will make you believe that you can make an huge amount of money quick and easy. While there are traders that made large sums of money in short time this is a rarity and not the norm. For most people it takes a lot of hard work to become a successful trader.

Trading requires constant research and evaluation. There are no guarantees in this business, you could work for hours on in and end up in the negative. Anyone embarking on this journey should first have the personality and financial means to do so.

In order to become a trader it is imperative that you plan and research your trading business. This is not a profession that you will become skilled overnight.
